Rochester Takes "Battle of the Bobcats
Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight, defeating BSC Syracuse
Rochester, NY – The Bryant and Stratton Rochester women's basketball team extended their winning streak to 3 games Wednesday night with a 75-54 win over Bryant and Stratton Syracuse. The Lady Bobcats are now 3-2 overall, 1-1 in conference competition, and remains undefeated at 2-0 at home.
The team had it's second highest scoring output of the season on Wednesday, dropping 75 points in the victory. They had for women score in double figures, and out scored the Syracuse campus by 15 points in the final 20 minutes.
Eight different players scored in the game, four in double figures. Kathryn Kanhoye led the way for Rochester, scoring 17 and Dorian Sharp not far behind with 16. Sharp recorded another double double, adding a game high 14 rebounds to go along with her 16 points. Kanhoye lit it up from behind the arc, knocking down a season high 4 threes.
Narjai Beshear and Shanell Glover were the other two double figure scorers, both scoring 11 points coming off the bench for the Lady Bobcats. Beshear added 8 rebounds and Glover shot an efficient 5-8 from the field in the victory.
Bryant and Stratton Rochester did an amazing job cleaning up the glass, out rebounding Syracuse, 62-46. The Lady Bobcats also worked their way to the free throw line shooting 17 more free throws in the contest. Like their rebounding, the defense is what the Lady Bobcats pride themselves on. They held Syracuse to 24.1% field goal percentage, while only allowing them 16% from three point range.
The Lady Bobcats of Syracuse hung around after the first half, entering the break only down 6, but the fourth quarter is when Rochester really found it's stride. Rochester outscored Syracuse, 21-10 in the final frame, ultimately leading to a 21 point margin of victory.
The win brings Bryant and Stratton Rochester to 3-2 overall on the season and 1-1 in conference play. This was their third consecutive victory. Bryant and Stratton Syracuse drops to 0-2.
After their victory Wednesday in the "Battle of the Bobcats," Bryant and Stratton Rochester will have two rematch games at home this weekend with Clarion University on Saturday and Sunday with Bryant and Stratton Buffalo.
