Sharp Leads The Way As Women's Basketball Gets First Win
Dorian Sharp led all scorers with 29 points, as Women's Basketball gets their first win of the season.
ROCHESTER, NY – Bryant and Stratton Rochester took a 7 point lead after the first quarter of play and never looked back as the Lady Bobcats took down Bryant and Stratton Ohio for their first win of the 2020-21 basketball season. Bryant and Stratton Rochester's first win puts them to 1-2 on the season, while Bryant and Stratton Ohio falls to 1-1.
Dorian Sharp (29 points), and Kathryn Kanhoye (14 points) each scored in double-figures to lead the way for the Lady Bobcats. Sharp, along with Khadijah Robinson led the way on the glass for the home team, recording 10 total rebounds a piece. Sharp also added 5 rebounds and 6 steals in 38 minutes of action.
Bryant and Stratton Rochester used size to their advantage as they out rebounded Ohio 43 to 38 total and had more trips to the free throw line as well, taking 23 total for the game.
Treasur Jones was the top scorer for BSC-Ohio with 20 points off the bench. Tahjanae Flowers-Coleman and Keara Wilson added 12 a piece in the loss.
The Lady Bobcats took a 22-15 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. They led by 7 at the break and continued to outscore Ohio in the third, heading into the final frame up, 51-43. Despite being outscored in the fourth quarter, Bryant and Stratton Rochester hung on for the 63-59 victory.
Postgame, the school named Dorian Sharp the "Player of the Game" after a stat stuffing performance. Sharp led the Lady Bobacts in almost every category, scoring 29 points, grabbing 10 total rebounds, while also starring on the defensive end with 5 blocks and 6 steals.
Seven of the 10 Lady Bobcats that saw action versus BSC Ohio got their name in the scoring column, led by Sharp (29), Kanhoye (14), Burgess andHawkes with 6,Khadijah Robinson (4) andNarjai Beshear and Shardae Cooper scoring 2 a piece.
