Women's Basketball Goes On The Road This Weekend
Lady Bobcats Look to Continue Winning Ways This Weekend
Rochester, NY – The Bryant and Stratton Rochester women's basketball team is on the road this weekend looking to continue their winning ways. The team will visit Villa Maria College in Buffalo on Thursday afternoon before heading out to the state capital to take on Bryant and Stratton Albany for a Saturday matinee.
Last Time Out: The Lady Bobcats returned home for their first contest of the new calendar year last weekend. They hung on for a close win, 63-59, as seven of the ten players that saw the floor got their name in the score book. Bryant and Stratton Rochester was led by "Player of the Game," Dorian Sharp, who stuffed the stat sheet with a double double of 29 points and 10 rebounds, while also adding 3 assists, 6 steals and 5 blocks.
Gaining Momentum: Bryant and Stratton Rochester got back to their winning ways last Sunday, opening the new calendar year with a victory. This was their first win of the 2020-21 season, improving their record to 1-2. The Lady Bobcats look to extend their win streak to possibly 3 games after two games on the road upcoming this weekend.
Sharp On Point: Dorian Sharp gave the Lady Bobcats almost everything they could ask for. Sharp led the team in every statistical category in Sunday's win, scoring 29 points and recording 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals and 5 blocks, in her first game of the season. She's looking to continue her dominance as the season continues to progress over the next month and a half.
Statistical Leaders: Sharp is the team's leading scorer after this weekend's contest but three other Lady Bobcats are also averaging double figures. Behind Sharp is Myjoi Adams (19.0), Kadijah Jones (18.0), and Kathryn Kanhoye (14.7). Jones has also been unstoppable on the glass in the first few games averaging 18.0 rebounds per game. Myjoi Adams has had a knack for finding the open teammate in the new season averaging just over 5 assists (5.5), as well as being the defensive anchor with 3 steals per game.
Scouting Villa Maria: Like the Lady Bobcats, the Villa Maria Lady Vikings have less than 5 games under their belt. The Lady Vikings first scheduled game was postponed. Their only game this season was a 77-43 defeat to Bryant and Stratton Buffalo, on February 3rd. In that game, Villa Maria was lead by Chmicka Kennedy and Danyea Barclay with 16 and 15 points respectively. Barclay recorded a double double in the loss grabbing 11 rebounds to go along with her 15 points.
Scouting BSC-Albany: Similarly to Thursday's opponent, Villa Maria, the BSC-Albany Lady Bobcats have only been able to play one game this basketball season when they took on Bryant and Stratton Buffalo on January 9th. BSC Buffalo led wire to wire as they handed BSC Albany their first loss of the year 100-55. Saturday's game will be Bryant and Stratton Albany's first game in over a month's time.
What's Next: After this two-game road trip this weekend to Buffalo and Albany, the Lady Bobcats will get right back to it as they continue their road trip Monday, heading to Clarion University. After facing Clarion on the 15th, they'll be back home on the 17th facing Bryant and Stratton Syracuse.
