BSC-Rochester Upsets Top-Ranked BSC-Buffalo
Bryant & Stratton – Rochester pulled off what might just be the signature win of the season, to date, upsetting number one ranked Bryant & Stratton – Buffalo, 92-77.
Rochester entered the contest ranked eighth in the latest USCAA rankings and on the heels of a dominant 73-48 win over Bryant & Stratton – Cleveland on Saturday. The Bobcats’ seven-game winning streak was on the line as they faced Buffalo’s number one ranked squad, a team that had held the top spot in the USCAA poll for multiple weeks.
The breakout for Rochester came in the second quarter, leading by seven heading into the second stanza, Rochester went on a huge run in the second, outscoring Buffalo 33-14. The second quarter explosion gave Rochester a 52-26 halftime lead that would prove to be insurmountable.
Shanell Glover (21 points) and Dorian Sharp (29 points) led the Bobcats as the third quarter was a closer, back-and-forth battle that saw Rochester hold their advantage. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that Buffalo brought the deficit to less than 20 as Shameca Minor played a key role in their comeback effort, putting down 32 points on the afternoon.
There will be little rest for Rochester, as they play host to yet another number one ranked team on Sunday, February 9. Villa Maria, the top ranked team in the USCAA Division II ranks comes to town as the Bobcats look for retribution after falling to Villa earlier in the season.
