Head Coach, Darren Wynne, enters his fourth season at Bryant and Stratton College Rochester, coming off the back of winning his first USCAA D1 Men’s Soccer National Championship. He has a career Head Coach posting of 63 wins, 41 losses and 9 ties.

Over the past 3 years, Coach Wynne has built the Rochester Bobcats into a national powerhouse in such a short time. He started the program with 15 players in 2021, posting 3 wins and 11 losses his first year. In his second-year, Coach recruited 25 players and had their first USCAA D1 Men’s Soccer National Championship appearance, as the 4th seed going into the national tournament. Several Bobcats picked up All American Awards as well as All American Academic Awards that year. That year, Coach Darren received the USCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year award. It was 2023, when head coach Darren Wynne, his staff, and players brought home to Rochester NY, the first USCAA D1 Small Colleges Men’s Soccer National Championship beating Atlantis University 2-0 in the Finals in Pittsburgh, PA.

Before coming to the Bobcats, Coach Wynne coached club soccer at the local, regional, and national level with Northeast Rush. As Head Coach of the 2005 Boys, he guided them to runners-up in the NYSWYSA State Cup and advancing to the USYS Regional Championship in West Virginia in 2022. He was head coach for the 2005 boys for 3 years straight and coaching the 2009 Northeast Rush Regional Team in tournaments in Florida and Helsinki Finland.

Coach Wynne also coached at Alfred University as a first assistant coach, alongside Head Coach Tracy Blake. A long-time friend and mentor, Coach Blake asked Coach Wynne to assist him in the 2018 season, bringing them into the semi-final game of the Empire 8 playoffs.

Before coaching at Alfred, he had a stint as First Assistant and Recruiting Coordinator at The College at Brockport, helping revamp the program from 2016 to 2018, and guiding them to a playoff place in the 2017 season.

He also spent time developing youth players at Lakefront Soccer Club in Webster NY, where he was the Coaching Education Director for the club and the Head Coach for U10 boys’ team. From 2010-2015, he served as the Cayuga Community College Men’s Soccer Program Head Coach bringing them from 0-15 for three years in a row to 19th in the country through the NSCAA, in his first year. He posted a 39-22-4 record with the Spartans. In 2014, he guided Cayuga to the NJCAA National Finals finishing fourth overall in the nation, and the highest National Ranking in the college’s history. Also, that year, he earned the title of NJCAA Region III Regional Coach of the year and the Mid-State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Wynne has also spent 3 years at SUNY Oswego as assistant and head of recruitment, where he helped coach the program to three post-season SUNYAC playoff appearances.

During his time in Syracuse, Coach Wynne served at the New York State level as Head Coach for the Empire State Games, earning Central NY a Bronze Medal in one of the last games, held in Buffalo NY. His coaching style and experience were getting noticed and was recruited by New York State West Youth Soccer Association for their Olympic Development Program (ODP) and was a Coaching Education Instructor for US Soccer’s Coaching Licenses, through NYSWYSA.

Before moving to Rochester, he was the head coach of Empire United Syracuse youth teams winning two NYSWYSA State Championships and winning a USYSA Premier League Championship and USYSA Regional League Championship. He also served as a Goalkeeper Coach and Assistant Coach with Rochester Ravens women’s pro team. Coach Wynne took over as Technical Director of Rochester Football Club and was responsible for developing coaching curriculum and evolved the player development pathway within RFC and GPS Buffalo. He was also a Head Coach for the U11 Boys at Empire United Soccer Academy after Rochester Football Club.

Before moving to the USA in 2005, he spent two years in England as Assistant Coach to St. Alban’s City FC First Team, getting them promoted into the fifth tier of the English Football League. He was the front man for the St. Alban’s City F.C./Hayes F.C. Mid-weeks youths’ team that competed in the English FA Youth Cup.

Wynne has a wealth of experience as a player as well, with a playing career spanning 20 years back in Ireland. He had great success playing at one of Ireland’s top youth clubs, Cherry Orchard FC. He won many league titles and cups throughout his youth career. In his early career, Wynne earned a role on the Irish National U14-U20 team. After his youth career he turned professional with Sligo Rovers who played in the Eircom Premier League (now Airtricity League of Ireland) and appeared in the UEFA Champions League Qualifiers with Rovers. While he was with Rovers, he was sent out on loan to Newry Town where he spent a season. After his 5 years with Sligo, he signed for Home Farm Everton another pro club that played in the Eircom National League of Ireland (now Airtricity League of Ireland). Over here in the United States he earned playing time in goal with CNY United FC Semi Pro Team and the Syracuse Silver Knight’s MISL Pro Team.
