Men's Basketball Takes Third at 2021 Vaden Cup
Andre Hairston gets MVP of Consolation Games as MBB takes third
Buffalo, NY – The Bryant and Stratton men's basketball team took on Bryant and Stratton Albany, Sunday, for a chance to earn third place in the 2021 Vaden Cup hosted by Bryant and Stratton Buffalo. Saturday night the Bobcats played Bryant and Stratton and fell, 92-72. The matchup with Albany was deemed the consolation game of the Vaden Cup.
Their second game in as many days, and looking to end the year with a win, the Bryant and Stratton Bobcats of Rochester came out on top over Bryant and Stratton Albany, 72-65.
After the first twenty minutes of play, the Bobcats from Rochester took a 5 point lead into the break and looked to continue the momentum into the second half of play and they did just that. They outscored Bryant and Stratton Buffalo again in the second half to come out on top by a final of 72-65. It was a great bounce-back win for the Bobcats to earn third place in the season finale.
Andre Hairston was named MVP of the consolation game after having another monster double double. Hairston played 36 of the total 40 minutes, scoring 19 points and grabbing a career high 23 rebounds, 8 of them being offensive. He also shot an efficient 8-14 from the field, 57 percent.
Six different Bobcats got their names in the scorer's book. Marcus Zappia added another 20 point game to his resume also adding 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Victor Caldwell and Daniel Folds scored 12 and 11 in the victory, respectively, Matthew Driver and James Strother combined for 10 points as well.
The Bryant and Stratton Bobcats ended the season on a winning note, claiming third place in a stacked 2021 Vaden Cup. The victory Sunday was their 4th victory in 5 games, showing Bobcat fans that there's a bright future ahead!
