Men's Basketball Falls to Bryant and Stratton Syracuse
Andre Hairston's near triple double not enough as MBB falls at home.
Rochester, NY – The Bryant and Stratton Rochester men's basketball team hosted Bryant and Stratton Syracuse in a "Battle of the Bobcats" on Wednesday night. The team fell 78-70, to fall to 1-4 on the season.
Andre Hairston led the way once again for the Bobcats, with a near triple double. Hairston had a team high in every major offense category, leading the Bobcats in points (16), rebounds (14) and tied with Marcus Zappia for a team high in assists (6). Zappia scored in double figures again finishing with 11 to go along with 5 rebounds in the loss.
Bryant and Stratton Rochester came out of the gate strong taking a fourteen point lead into the half, up 46-32. Victor Caldwell had a strong half hitting a handful of jumpers and Hairston was getting easy looks at the rim.
Bryant and Stratton Syracuse came out of the locker room on a misson led by Cheikh Dieng's game high 22 points, to outscore Rochester 46-24 in the second half.
With about 5 minutes remaining, the teams traded buckets, including a trio of and-ones from James Strother, Donte Crumpler and Marcus Zappia. The deficit was too much to over come however, as the team fell late, 78-70.
Crumpler and Victor Caldwell joined Zappia and Hairston as the other double digit scorers for the Bobcats finishing with 15 and 13 respectfully. Matthew Driver, Fred Foster and Daniel Folds also worked their way into the score book.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday for a rematch with Villa Maria on the road. Tip is set for 1:00pm.
