Bobcats conclude home schedule with OT loss to Pine Manor College
ROCHESTER, NY – The Bryant & Stratton College of Rochester Bobcats finished up their home schedule for their inaugural season by hosting the Pine Manor College Gators. In a game that featured several lead changes and an overtime period, the Bobcats would come up just short, losing by a score of 74-69.
Pine Manor played an aggressive defense and jumped out to an early lead. The teams traded buckets back and fourth in a game that was riddled with fouls on both sides. Rochester was able to hang in for the entire first half and with under five minutes, they were able to take a brief lead. Back to back threes put the Gators back out in front, but Rochester would string together a few stops on defensive and suddenly found themselves heading into the intermission up by one point.
BSC pulled ahead for much of the second half. Fouls again plagued both teams, especially the Gators early on. At one point, the Bobcats stretched their lead to 10 points, but Pine Manor was never too far behind. Rochester could not find the insurance points they needed towards the end of the second and with less than 44 seconds left in the game, the score was tied at 66. Neither team could put away a game winner and the clock ran out with the teams deadlocked.
In overtime, the Gators took advantage of fouls and turnovers committed by the Bobcats. Rochester never got the offense going in the 5 minutes of extra period and when the final buzzer had sounded, Pine Manor would end up winning. Rochester moves to 5-20 for the year.
Up next: The Bobcats will conclude their first season in program history with a road game against Bryant & Stratton College of Syracuse. It will be the second game for the two I-90 rivals. Earlier this -season, Rochester was able to pull off an OT victory at home over Syracuse by a score of 107-104.
