Bobcats drop close game to BSC Albany
ROCHESTER, NY - Returning from a two-game road trip, the Bryant & Stratton College of Rochester Bobcats hosted interstate rival BSC Albany at James Monroe High School. The game was the second meeting between the two sister schools. Albany triumphed over Rochester back on January 25th, by the score of 64-59.
Both teams got off to a slow start in this matchup, with cold shooting and turnovers on both sides keeping the first ten minutes a low scoring affair. Albany kept the lead for most of the half thanks in part to some foul trouble from Rochester. The hometown 'Cats never far away, keeping the deficit to just one point at every timeout. The hosts did manage to take a brief 3-point lead before the intermission, but Albany would battle back to tie the game at 30-30 heading into the locker room.
In the second half, the teams came out and kept pace with each other again. Albany did start to gain an edge as the half wore on, stretching their lead to as much as ten points with just under seven minutes left to play. Rochester would go on a run to cut the deficit back down to three points, but Albany would rally back to give themselves breathing room. Despite some late-game fouling, Rochester was unable to make a final push and the game ended by a score of 59-55. The Bobcats move their total record to 5-19 on the season with just two games left for the year.
Up next: Rochester will play their final home game of the season on Friday, February 15th at 7:00 p.m. when they host Pine Manor College out of Boston, MA. The Gators are 8-14 this season and have won four of their last five games.
