#7 ECC halts Rochester’s win streak
BUFFALO, NY – The Bobcats traveled to Erie Community College for a rematch with the undefeated Kats, a team ranked #7 nationally in the NJCAA. In their previous game with the Bobcats, ECC triumphed by a score of 124-64. On Wednesday, Rochester was unable to get revenge or extend their two-game win streak as the Kats went on to defeat them by a score of 88-41.
Erie's press caused troubles for BSC early by causing turnovers and easy points for the hosts. By the end of the half, Rochester committed 21 turnovers which resulted in 27 Erie CC points. Rochester struggled from the field in the first ten minutes of the game, hitting just two field goals. At the 10-minute mark, the Kats held a commanding 22-5 lead. Rochester did manage to sink a few more buckets but good shooting from ECC was enough to bring the deficit to 46-15 going into the intermission.
For the rest of the game, Rochester improved their shooting percentage from 28% in the first half to 45% in the second. However, a game total of 32 turnovers plagued the Bobcats. The victory moves ECC to a perfect 13-0 on the year. BSC has their win streak halted at two and moves their record move to 2-13.
Up next: Rochester returns home to James Monroe High School on Sunday after a 3-game road trip. They will host I-90 foe Bryant & Stratton Syracuse for the first time in program history. The 'Cuse Bobcats are 3-14 on the season after a victory against North Country Community College. Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
