Carlow Spoils Bobcat’s Home Opener
ROCHESTER, NY – The Bryant & Stratton College Rochester Bobcats (0-2) fell to the Carlow University Celtics (1-0) by a score of 88-71. It was the first home game for the Bobcats at James Monroe High School's new gym in Rochester, NY.
Freshman Kenyan McGahee was the top scorer for the Bobcats, finishing with 11 points. For the Celtics, senior Tony Acrie led the way with 18 points.
Carlow began the game with an early 9-0 run, taking a lead that they would not give up for the rest of the game. Rochester struggled from deep, hitting only one three pointer in the first half. A 14-9 run towards the end of the period helped BSC keep the deficit to 13 points with a score of 38-25. McGahee got all 11 of his points in the first including the lone three pointer.
In the second, Freshman Meleek Mason (8 points) got BSC going with back-to-back makes. The Bobcats managed to find a better rhythm in the three point game, shooting 4 of 14. Rochester was also able to take advantage from the free throw line going 10 for 16 in the half after Carlow ran into foul trouble. With 9:44 left in the game, the Celtics would seal the win with a 15-4 run. The Bobcats move to 0-2 on the year while Carlow picks up a win in their first game of the season.
BSC Rochester's next game will be another home game at James Monroe High School on Sunday, November 11th at 2p.m. They will be hosting the Erie Community College Kats (2-0) who are coming off back-to-back wins at the Sullivan Community College Tournament.
