Bobcats Continue Winning Ways, Topping GCC 62-43
Bryant & Stratton overcame a sluggish first half and smothered Genesee Community College defensively to come away with their third win in their last four games, 62-43 over the Cougars.
Offense was at a premium for most of the game, as the two sides only combined for 46 first half points, with the Bobcats holding a narrow 12-9 lead after the first quarter. Bryant & Stratton struggled to make baskets in the second quarter as the Cougars settled in after a tough first quarter.
The Bobcats’ second quarter effort prompted head coach Sean Knorr to substitute his entire starting five in an attempt to spark their offense and effort. The contest remained a tight battle as the Cougars outscored the Bobcats 17-8 in the quarter and took a 26-20 lead into halftime.
Knorr and his staff made some key halftime adjustments and that set off a huge Bobcats run in the third quarter, outscoring the hosts 25-9.
It was a lead Bryant & Stratton wouldn’t surrender, tacking on 17 more points in the final frame and holding the Cougars to 17 points total in the second half.
“I was proud on how they responded in the second half after our talk and adjustments,” said Knorr. “Proud of my coaching staff for making adjustments and taking a lead”
Jaisy Soto was a key contributor off the bench for the Bobcats, scoring 11 points and shooting 50% from beyond the arc. Dorian Sharp continued to sevre as Bryant & Stratton’s offensive catalyst, scoring 22 points and picking up 11 rebounds. She narrowly missed a triple double, falling two assists shy of the mark.
