Point Park Ends Women's Basketball Winning Streak
The Bobcats winning streak was halted at four on Sunday afternoon as Point Park University shot the lights out from three-point range to top Bryant & Stratton 78-72 at the Pinnacle Athletic Campus.
A hallmark of Bryant & Stratton’s recent play has been starting fast, but their signature fire wasn’t there at the start of Sunday’s game. Unlike previous games, where 20+ point quarters and stingy defense had been commonplace, the Bobcats were trailing 20-16 after the first quarter.
The quiet first quarter led to a difficult second, as the Pioneers brought down several key offensive rebounds that resulted in five three-pointers in the first half alone. The 15 points generated on those plays helped to account for Point Park’s 10-point halftime lead over the previously 5-2 Bobcats.
Bryant & Stratton would rally in the second half. Outscoring the Pioneers in each quarter and pushing hard for the tying basket. They wouldn’t get any closer than four, with Point Park eventually grabbing a late bucket to ice the game and the six-point win.
The Bobcats were led by Dorian Sharp and Kadijah Jones’ double doubles as the pair put up 22 points and 10 rebounds and 20 points and 14 rebounds, respectively. Shanell Glover had a double double of her own, with 10 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
Bryant & Stratton will enjoy a week of practice before taking to their home court against Cayuga on Friday evening.
