Bobcats drop 2019 opener against Central Penn
ROCHESTER, NY - The Bryant & Stratton Bobcats will have to keep looking for their first win as they dropped their opening game of 2019 at home to the Central Penn College Knights. The Knights came into the game with a 6-8 record, many of those losses coming from NCAA Division I teams.
Both teams came into the game trading runs with Rochester gaining an early edge in the first three minutes. Rochester was able to keep Central Penn in check by forcing turnovers and tough outside shots. However, a cold streak would hit both teams over the next few minutes. The Knights were able to pull ahead slightly halfway through the first, taking a 5 point lead. Three straight turnovers by the Bobcats and two 3's towards the end of the period would increase the lead for Central Penn and the teams would head into the locker room with a score of 33-22.
CPC would continue to pull away as play resumed, hitting many of their shots while forcing turnovers by Rochester. The Bobcats would rally back and cut the Knights lead to 10 with 10 Minutes to go in the game. Central Penn would end up holding on to the win to pick up their 7th win of the season and their 3rd in a row. The loss pushes Rochester's overall record to 0-12.
Up next: Rochester will hit the road to Finger Lakes Community College for their first chance to avenge one of their first semester losses. The last time the two teams played on December 12th, Rochester fell just short of a win, losing 74-66. The Lakers are on a 2 game win streak dating back to their game with Rochester. This will be their first game of 2019.
